BetterVideo vs Luma: Credits and Privacy Compared
Luma makes very good video and has a lot of models. The differences with us are in the pricing and the terms.
Credits
Luma's billing policy says unused monthly credits lapse at the end of each billing cycle and don't roll over. It also says credits used on a failed generation are returned automatically. Ours never lapse, and failed videos return their credits too.
Extras are priced separately
Luma's pricing page lists upscaling to 4K, text to speech and lip sync as separate charges by the second or by the character. Upscaling video to 4K is listed at 25 credits per second, and the lip-sync options run from 4 to 45 credits per second depending on the model. That's a normal way to price a toolbox. It does mean the cost of a finished video with voice and a sharp 4K file adds up in steps.
In ours, the enhancement pass and the music or voiceover are in the price of the video. See what one price covers.
Privacy
Luma's Terms of Use (May 14, 2026) let Luma use your uploads and results to train its models, and the license is wider on free accounts. Its API and Enterprise terms are separate documents that we haven't read in full. Ours don't train on uploads at all. More: Does Luma train on your uploads?
Where Luma is the better pick
Luma offers more models, more control, and longer clips than we do. We make videos up to 20 seconds. If you want to tune a shot over many takes, Luma gives you more to work with.
Where we fit better
If you'd rather pay once for a video that already has sound and a sharper picture, and keep your uploads out of anyone's training data, that's what we built.
A note on these facts
