BetterVideo vs Runway: Credits and Privacy Compared
Runway is a big creative suite. We make short videos and enhance video you already have. They overlap less than you'd think, so this isn't about which is better. It's about two things in the fine print.
Credits
Runway's monthly plans give you credits that reset each billing cycle. Max rolls up to a month over. Credits you buy on top never expire, with a 1,000-credit minimum (details).
We have no monthly plan. You buy a pack, the credits don't expire, and a small first pack is fine.
Privacy
Runway's Terms of Use say Runway may use your inputs and outputs to train its AI models (Section 4.4, updated September 15, 2026). We don't use your uploads or your videos for training. The longer version is here.
What's in the price
Runway's plans list 4K upscaling and music, voice and sound-effect generation, and Pro and Max list unlimited 4K upscaling. Its pricing page doesn't list lip sync by plan. Where Runway is the better pick
Runway has far more tools and models than we do, and it's built for editors who want to control every shot. We stop at 20 seconds per video and our lip sync is limited to 4 or 8 second clips. If you need a full editing workspace, that's not us.
Where we fit better
If you want a finished short video without a subscription, and you'd rather your uploads weren't used for training, we're the simpler fit.
